Application Guidelines
There are no application forms. Only one copy of a proposal is required.
It should contain the following information:
  • A brief description of the organization’s history, objectives and activities
  • A concise statement of the purpose of the request, its significance or uniqueness in relation to other work being done in the field and the results sought
  • The specific amount being requested
  • A detailed budget for the program and an indication of other prospective funding sources
  • A copy of the most recent audited financial statements and current operating budget
  • The identity and qualifications of the key personnel to be involved
  • A list of the members of the Board of Directors with institutional affiliates and titles
  • The organization’s National Revenue registration number confirming the applicant's status as a registered charity

The Foundation prefers to initiate site visits or meetings, if needed, after receiving an application and generally discourages pre-application meetings.

LIMITATIONS

The Hal Jackman Foundation does not normally provide support for:

  • General fund drives and annual appeals
  • General operating support for ongoing activities
  • Operating or capital deficits
  • Requests from an organization which has already received a grant in the same calendar year
  • Umbrella organizations, or requests from organizations intending to distribute the grant to other beneficiaries
  • Programs/projects whose fundamental purpose or benefit falls within the social services, health or community development fields
  • Unsolicited grant requests from organizations outside the Toronto area
